Mercitalia Rail has developed and employed a Quality Management System in compliance with the requirements of UNI EN ISO 9001 for Quality, UNI EN ISO 14001 for Environment and UNI ISO 45001 for Health and Safety.
In the context of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane policies for innovative transport with low environmental impact, Mercitalia Rail has contributed to starting up the EcoTransIT project, a web service specifically designed to support companies in the development of transport strategies that are increasingly environmentaly sustainable.
Every day rail transport takes tens of thousands of cars and lorries off the road, ensuring that people and freight are moved safely, and making an effective contribution to reducing greenhouse gases and the emission of other harmful substances.
Thanks to the trust placed in rail transport by our customers, in 2021 we moved around 33 million tonnes of goods, saving the emission of 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 compared with road transport, and keeping 1.7 million lorries off the road.
The new business model makes it possible to design and deliver integrated freight transport and logistic solutions using the railway network, but also aims to grow our presence along the value chain, both up and downstream of rail transport.
The production processes must be able to “listen to customers”, as well as being constantly controlled through a system of rules and procedures, checking/monitoring and applying the necessary measures for constant improvement.
